Cancellation Policy

Version 2026-07-27. Last updated 27 July 2026.

You have 14 days to cancel, from the day you engage us, without giving any reason and at no cost.

Your 14 day right to cancel

Because you engage us at a distance, over WhatsApp, email or our website, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of the day we agree to act for you. You do not need to give a reason, and within that period there is nothing to pay.

How to cancel

Tell us in writing. Email info@sortedrefunds.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp with your name and that you wish to cancel. A message sent before the 14 days end is in time. We will confirm in writing that we have stopped work.

If you ask us to start straight away

Most people want their claim moving immediately. If you ask us to begin during the 14 day period and we then file your claim before the period ends, the service is complete and the right to cancel that particular claim no longer applies. We will always tell you before we file, and we do not file anything without your approval.

If you cancel after work has started but before filing, there is nothing to pay.

Cancelling after 14 days

You can still stop at any time before filing, and there is no fee, because our fee only arises from a refund we obtain for you.

Our fee is 36% of any refund we obtain for you, including any VAT that applies. Nothing is added on top. If HMRC pays no refund, there is no fee and you owe us nothing.

You can make the same claim yourself, free, directly with HMRC at gov.uk. You are never obliged to use us.

If a refund has already been paid

Once HMRC has paid a refund on a claim we prepared and filed, our fee for that claim is due, and cancelling does not remove it.

If we end the engagement

We may stop acting for you if we cannot obtain the information we need, if we believe a claim would be inaccurate, or if we are asked to do something we consider improper. We will tell you in writing and you will owe us nothing for an unfiled claim.
